Brown Convention Center. Costumes are optional for the third annual pre-Halloween convention, which will open with a flourish at noon today. More than 30 guests will participate in concerts, panel discussions and meet-and-greet sessions including Japanese rock band 12012; actor Alistair Abell (U-571, Dragon Ball Z), illustrator and game designer Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy), actor Chris Ayres (Gantz, Speed Grapher), actress Tiffany Grant (Hello Kitty, Neon Genesis Evangelion), actor/director Taliesin Jaffe (Mr. Mom, Paranoia Agent), actor Johnny Young Bosch (one-time Power Ranger) and illustrator/musician/actor Xero Reynolds (Gatchaman, Samurai Gun). There will be three anime viewing rooms, a masquerade show, gaming tournament and karaoke contests among the activities. After hours, there will be music provided by celebrity DJs and midnight anime screenings.
