Tekkon Kinkreet Writeup at TheVistaOnline Oct 3 2007 (animeota) -/- Tekkon Kinkreet, an animated movie based on the manga "Black and White", is directed by American Michael Arias, who has lived in Japan for 15 years. [gallery]3293[/gallery]The story is based around two street-wise "thugs" - together known as "Black" and "White" - living in Treasure Town. Here's an excerpt from the article written by Steven Reckinger: "The plot is a bit thin, but the profound nature of the characters makes the movie worth watching. There are several characters to keep up with, but we are able to get into the minds of most of them. There's a subplot involving genetically engineered assassins who are commanded by a fabricated language that only one of the head mobsters can speak. Then there's the strange behavior of White himself, always talking to himself about random philosophical ideas. It can be a strange viewing, but the eccentricity gives it charm." Probably the second most important sentence in the review has to be "The English dub is surprisingly good for this film.". Yahoo! We all know the horrors of watching a great anime in it's subbed form only to be horribly horrified when watching the english dubbed version. Also according to the review, the original Japanese track is also "outstanding". So it looks to be a very interesting piece of art.
